Jennifer Winokur, Esq. is the owner of a private litigation firm since 1996. While her primary focus is family law, her practice has encompassed civil, criminal, family, traffic, property, and probate litigation, with approximately 100 jury and bench trials. Jennifer has teamed up with ATD Mediation because she believes in the important and necessary role effective mediation plays in the successful resolution of a case. She brings her unique style to mediation and utilizes her natural talent in the art of debate to understand and facilitate the concerns of both the plaintiff and defendant towards a positive and successful resolution. Her knowledge of QDROS, financial affidavits, child support, visitation and child custody issues, retirement/pension funds and equitable considerations are particularly valuable in family mediations.
Jennifer began her legal career at the tender age of fifteen winning State-Wide Mock Trial competitions, as President of the Debate Team in her high school, and completing an internship for Janet Reno’s State Attorney’s Office. While completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Florida, Jennifer demonstrated once again her expertise and aptitude in legal debate becoming the recipient of several trophies in yearly Lincoln-Douglas Debate competitions and CEDA. In addition, she completed a legal internship in the HRS legal department, Alachua County, beginning her experience in juvenile law.
Jennifer received her Juris Doctor from St. Thomas School of Law in 1996, where she graduated in the Dean’s list and in the top 17% of her class. She was elected to serve on the Moot Court Board for all three years and the Trial Court Board for two years. Her paper in Jurisprudence was acknowledged with an Achievement award. The Supreme Court of Florida certified Jennifer as a legal intern and she began practicing law in the beginning of her 3rd year in law school. Jennifer practiced law (before even receiving her law degree) with Miami-Dade County’s Public Defender’s Office, Felony Division, where she conducted felony trials, depositions, and hearings, an honor granted by the Supreme Court of Florida to a mere fraction of law students.
Jennifer has been a member of the Florida Bar since 1996. She is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a County, Circuit Civil, and Family Court Mediator.
