
Douglas Ede is an AV rated trial attorney who has been admitted to practice in Florida since 1988. Having handled thousands of matters over his course of practice, the resolution component of each case has always intrigued him while the cost of litigation has always disturbed him. These two forces compelled him to become a certified Circuit Civil Mediator.
Doug was born in Boston, Massachusetts and has lived in
South Florida since 1969. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree In Finance from Florida State University's School of Business in 1984. In 1988, a Masters of Business Administration was conferred upon him by Barry University. Mr. Ede earned a Juris Doctor degree from Nova Southeastern University in 1988 where he received several academic accolades including the Book Award in Contracts. While in law school he served on the Law Review and competed for the University on both the Moot Court and Trial teams. Mr. Ede has been a member in good standing of The Florida Bar since 1988 and is admitted to practice in all federal courts in Florida and in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. Ede's litigation and mediation practices have involved a variety of matters including
complex commercial litigation, labor, administrative and municipal actions, personal
injury, medical, legal and accounting malpractice, and complex commercial
transactions. He is presently serving as local counsel in a multitude of matters for
several international law firms including Howrey Simon and Latham & Watkins. He
also serves as General Counsel to Florida International Magazine and Cathedral of St.
George. He is a member of the Florida Bar Association and Dade County Bar Association.
His civic service includes membership on the Board of Directors for YMCA of
Greater Miami, Board of Directors for South Dade YMCA and Board of Directors for St.
George Church and is past Chairman of the Board of South Dade YMCA. In his spare
time as the father of four boys, Doug coaches youth sports teams in a variety of
leagues throughout Miami-Dade County, Florida.
